Oh no!

Just a quick post as I am deep into cramming for my final on Friday. Who schedules a final for 7:30 am?!
Over the weekend, while cooking, I burned my face with boiling broth; a tragedy of soup. It popped back at me while I was checking to see if my potatoes were cooked. Luckily, I happened to be wearing my glasses, so nothing got in my eyes, but it did manage to nab my cheek. Boiling liquids hurt, I screamed like a little girl. Now, I currently have a decent sized scab going on and was wondering if anyone has any tips or tricks on how to diminish this scar?
I'm hoping it doesn't leave a permanent mark or is barely noticeable later on because let's face it, I'm semi-vain, any girl who says she isn't is lying, and I've always loved my clear complexion. It's crusted a bit and itches and it's taking every bit of me not to pull the scab off. I've been using Kelo-cote Advanced Formula Scar Gel (a silicone based gel vs Mederma which is an onion extract) religiously, probably more than the twice daily recommended dosage, but hey, more can't hurt right? Anyways, I'm frustrated because on top my braces, I now I have this ugly scar! Pity party for one? Me, me, me.
